On October 22, Pacific Time, and October 23, 2013, Eastern Time, the Sun moved into Scorpio the 8th sign of the Zodiac. It brings intensity and deep feelings and can take partnerships to new sensual, sizzling heights.
With its traditional planet ruler Mars (energy and aggression) and its co ruler Pluto, (power and transformation) any superficial skimming of the surface just won’t do. Save the relationship “lite” for another time. Although, being too passionate and emotional may cause us to get wrapped up in life’s drama and then discover that the resulting “overwhelm” does not quite match the situation. Nothing wrong with using an internal pause button when dealing with friends and loved ones to give us a chance to think, rather than just react.
Mercury, communication planet, will be transiting Scorpio (including its 3 week Retrograde period) until December 5, 2013. Saturn, planet of discipline, perseverance, and boundaries, will be visiting Scorpio until December 2014. The demand for the “real”, in conversation and action, goes up a few notches.
Regardless of where it appears in your personal chart, we can accomplish a lot during this time using Scorpio’s power and focus. But also remember that laughter can be used as a balm to stabilize, bring things into perspective and lighten the atmosphere. Save any overflowing angst and/or grudges for another day – it may dissipate as the mood changes.

Mercury Retrograde in the emotional, water sign of Scorpio begins on October 21, 2013. Yes, it’s the last one of the year. Back up your stuff! Don’t let carelessness or lack of focus bite you in the nether regions. Mercury, (planet of communications, transportation, education, manual dexterity) stopping and then moving backwards in the sky is not a tragedy, but it can get in the way of things running smoothly. So, just in case – pay attention. Make sure loose ends are tied. We will get thru these potentially dicey 3 weeks once again.
As always, use this time to review or revisit projects. Don’t go overboard, especially with the Retrograde occurring in “dig deeper” Scorpio, the 8th sign of the Zodiac. Its natural intensity is a great opportunity to research, re calculate, re think. Does the plan make sense? Was anything missed? Are there any monetary, financial recounts necessary? When Mercury goes Direct on November 10, things will gradually become unstuck as the planet picks up speed. You’ll be able go forward with anything you may have discovered.
BTW: Mercury just “appears” to go backwards. Planets only move forward, however, due to the earth’s orbit around the Sun, the positions are such that it looks like a reverse motion from earth.

The “Full” stage of the Moon intensifies the characteristics/energy of the Astrology sign its in. So, Full Moon in Water sign Pisces, think: emotion, creativity, hazy reality, imagination. If you have something important to do, stay focused. Be discerning. If things seem a little vague, you may want to delay any decisions.
Use any heightened sensitivity for the creation of beautiful things. Spread some Pisces kindness among family and friends. Smile at nice looking strangers. (This is where that “discerning” thing comes in handy)
Be as imaginative, caring and compassionate as you wish, just don’t be taken in by any promises or sad stories. Be present, stay in the moment – dismiss any escapist urges. Reality may often bite, but it can be handled without mind altering options. Take care of your inner self. You matter.
Full Moon, September 19, 2013 – 7:13AM EDT / 4:13AM PDT
FYI: The “Harvest” Moon is whichever Full Moon occurs closest to the Autumn Equinox.
On Thursday September 5, 2013, both the New Moon and the Sun are in efficient Earthy Virgo. We experience a double dose of the responsible, practical, detail oriented 6th sign of the Zodiac. Like all “New” Lunar phases, the next 2 weeks are a great time for initiating, starting, creating, etc. Use it to organize and de-clutter both mind and surroundings.
Take advantage of Virgo’s natural “I’ll handle it” approach to take a look at health and nutrition. Are there things to be improved – diet, exercise? Don’t spend too much time being critical of yourself. Take care of needed changes now.
Call home – Friday Morning, 8/30/13, the Moon moves into its own sign again of Cancer. Its a Water sign and we’re drawn to hearth and home or anywhere we are hanging our hat this weekend. The Moon makes us sensitive and emotional, but don’t rule out the often soothing merits of a good meal. Downplay any moodiness and let Cancer’s kind, nurturing way of being show up.
BTW: Energy change on Sunday afternoon when the Moon struts into the regal, upbeat, attention getting Fire sign of Leo. (Have fun with this. Wear something Gold.)
Have a great weekend!
The Moon is content this Saturday and Sunday as it sits in the Zodiac sign it rules. Water sign Cancer sets us up to enjoy the comforts of home. Domesticity has its merits, make yourself, and anyone who happens to stop by, comfortable. Kindness and grace and a good meal can be so soothing for everyone.
The Cancer Moon is all about emotions, therefore sensitivity and vulnerability are heightened. Don’t go looking for hurt feelings – yours or anyone else’s. Avoid cultivating and harvesting dark thoughts. They will pass, so there’s no need to self medicate (over eat). Share your leftovers.
Have a lovely weekend!
“Summer’s here and the time is right for dancin’ in the streets” Our Summer Solstice, Thursday June 20, 2013 (PDT), coincides with the Sun’s move into Water sign Cancer. This Moon ruled 4th sign of the Zodiac will nurture us thru the longest day of the year. Cancers can be emotional, moody, restless and sensitive, but– will always take care. Family, real or created, is the focus. Just be careful about going overboard with eating urges and/or needing to be needed. Know what is best for you – with both food and people.
Your own personal Sun sign might be different, but, you can still take advantage of the reigning Lunar Cancer influences for the next 4 weeks by paying attention to instincts or any feelings you can’t put into words. Don’t let the antennas wilt. Heightened awareness can provide useful information. And, of course enjoy the homey, comfy company of family and friends. Loving them and feeding them ice cream is all part of the program. Fun stuff!
*Summer Solstice, in the Northern Hemisphere, the 1st degree of Cancer, 10:04 PM Pacific - June 20, 2013 /1:04 AM Eastern - June 21, 2013
*Gemstone – Emerald * Power colors- silver, pale gray *Body Part – Breasts
BTW: For Moon children (those w/ Cancer Sun or anyone w/ Cancer prominent in their birth charts – rising sign, Moon sign, etc), Jupiter, the planet of luck, big ideas, big dreams and abundance begins a transit your sign on June 26, 2013 until July 15, 2014. Be alert, keep your eyes open for opportunities that come your way. Not all things will be as great as they appear, but many will be. Discard what can’t be used and handle the rest.
(The year is already half over – what are you going to do with what’s left?)
From Friday morning, 3/1/13, until Sunday afternoon, the Moon will take residence again in the emotional Water sign of Scorpio. The 8th sign of the Zodiac often impels us to dig deeper, to peel back layers – secrets and mysteries will not be safe. Superficial chat will not satisfy.
Regardless of what is discovered, don’t take it too personally. Don’t waste too much time with an “it’s all about me” scenario. You may want to do something else a bit more constructive. Use Scorpio’s sizzling power and fierce focus for whatever you decide is delicious and positive.
Have an awesome weekend!
Another “first” for 2013 – the first Mercury Retrograde period (unexpected happenings, a slowdown of actions and decisions), of the year begins Saturday February 23 until March 17, 2013. It occurs 3 times annually and this time, our Communication planet goes backward in the sensitive, imaginative, impressionable Water sign of Pisces. Mercury is not just associated with reading and writing, but is also connected to travel and transportation, education, manual dexterity, small electrical gadgets, etc. We just need to pay extra attention to the details to get thru without too many mishaps.
Mercury Retrograde is always a good time to make plans, complete projects and of course to exercise all those “re” actions: re evaluate, rewrite, re assess, re acquaint, re address. The retrograde period can give us time to pause and reflect, rather than jump into new schemes. Contract signings, innovations, new investments should be delayed if possible and certainly not attempted until after close scrutiny. Pisces and its planet ruler Neptune can push us far away from the real. Situations are not always clear.
However, as I always say, “life does NOT stop”. If it can’t wait and a project needs to be handled, get a grip, focus and do what needs to be done. Don’t accept any hazy solutions and then hope for the best. Avoid having your work redone due to initial carelessness or sloppy thinking.
And, let’s not forget the weekend Moon transit: The Lunar orb will be in fun, elegant, dramatic Fire sign Leo this weekend. Dress up, socialize. Have a great time!

Monday February 18, 2013 – Sun into compassionate, dreamy, Pisces, the 12th and final sign of the Zodiac. Its a Water sign ruled by imaginative, mystical Neptune, therefore, remember to pay attention to your dreams (jot them down). The subconscious is a treasure trove of ideas. However, if too much “feeling” leaves you unsettled and fuzzy thinking, focus to stay grounded and connected to reality. Over sensitivity to adverse energy or vibrations is no excuse to drift or evade life. Be steady, be productive, be creative – which can be great for anyone associated with the arts. Innovations regarding music, dance, theater will probably bubble to the surface faster than usual.
As always, those most affected have the Sun and/or Ascendant in the specified sign. Note that those planets transiting Pisces will add to the mix. With its ruler Neptune visiting until 2026, traits are intensified and we will probably all have our encounters with the intuitive outer planet somewhere in your chart. Neptune has a reputation for clouding the water, fading boundaries, and fostering escapism, but, all these things that make life unsettled can also enhance creativity and imagination.
Mercury, the planet of Communication, entered Pisces on February 5th and remains until April 14th. The influence on our writing and speaking can show up in different ways. “Say what you mean, mean what you say”. Being sloppy, careless or vague with interactions can cause misunderstandings. Strive for clarity.
Spread that natural Pisces kindness among family and friends. Don’t be surprised if sympathy/empathy colors your relationships – offer assistance where it is genuinely needed.
