Full Moon in Leo (The Stage Is Set, But, It’s Really NOT All About You)

Lights, camera, action! Wednesday’s Moon on January 31, 2018, will not only be “Full”, it will also be Blue* (as in “once in a blue…”) and it will also be Red** (due to  the Lunar Eclipse).  All happening in dramatic, Fire sign Leo – no better way to heat up, perk up a winter hump day! A “Full” phase intensifies the traits of the sign it’s in and with Sun ruled Leo, (its Zodiac symbol is the glorious King of the jungle) we feel generous, creative and get the urge to flame and sparkle while flitting across the world stage. “Look at me!”.

So step into the spotlight, wear some regal purple, be royally magnanimous to your subjects (friends and family) and have a great time. Also, use the Full Moon’s energy to finish projects begun at the time of the last New Moon (1/16/18). Its considered a fortunate time to take care of loose ends and it will last for about 10 days even as the Moon moves into efficient Virgo on Thursday.

Leo Full Moon / Total Lunar Eclipse:  1/31/18 – 8:27 AM EST / 5:27 AM PST

*Since this is the 2nd Full Moon in the same month, it’s called “Blue”

**Red Moon – due to Lunar Eclipse, Moon appears brighter and blood red– orange in color

Zodiac Signs & The Body Parts They Rule

Astro Body Parts 2Our Sun Signs have their colors, their birth stones and their personality traits. According to traditional Astrology, they also have jurisdiction over particular parts of our anatomy:

Aries:  Head / Face (“Head strong”)

Taurus:  Neck (A sore throat can really be a problem for a truth talking Bull)

Gemini:   Hands, arms (“Twins” people talk with their hands a lot)

Cancer:  Breasts (Of course the nurturer)

Leo:  Heart (…of a lion!)

Virgo:  Bowels (Cleansing the system for good health)

Libra:  Kidneys (Balancing the body fluids)

Scorpio:  Reproductive system (No more needs to be said)

Sagittarius:  Hips, liver (Sag’s symbol is always a centaur with a wine pouch?)

Capricorn:  Skeletal structure (bones, bones, bones…)

Aquarius: Legs (Support for all those spontaneous moves)

Pisces:  Feet (Pedicures are a good thing)

The ancients thought that those parts of the body ruled by your Sun Sign were particularly sensitive and vulnerable.  Perhaps. But I do think we need to take care of them regardless and listen when they speak and tell us something is out of whack.

Treat our parts well, and they will be kind to us in return.

Time For the Unexpected * Aquarius Sun 1/19/18

The Sun rallies in intellectual, group focused, Aquarius on Friday January 19, 2018. The 11th sign of the Zodiac is ruled by the unpredictable, unconventional, undeniably radical planet Uranus. It’s all about independence, the resentment of all “ties that bind”, a love of sudden changes of direction and thinking “outside of the box”. Freedom.

And, just to add some additional energy, there will be planets in Aquarius in addition to the Sun:

Mercury: 2/1 to 2/17/18, will add its cleverness and communication / networking skills.

Venus: 1/17 thru 2/10/18, can add charm to fiery rhetoric, solidifying relationships in the midst of revolutionary zeal.

There may be urges to join a group, organize a rally and / or form a protest for any issues deemed to be just. You know in your bones that you have to contribute to the universe in some way (like Aquarian Oprah). Marching for a cause, taking risks, being on the edge, or ledge – all sounds intense, but remember it can be done with warmth and humor.

Regardless of your birthday, we can all tap into those “We/Us”, “change for the  good” vibrations as the Sun intensifies this Air sign’s love of community.

* Aquarius Sun: January 19, 2018 = 10:10 PM EST / 7:10 PM PST

*Gemstone: Blue Tiger’s Eye *Power color: Ultramarine blue * Body Part: Ankles

BTW: don’t get confused – even though the Astrology symbol is the “Water Bearer”, Aquarius is an Air sign!

We are NOT one dimensional – we have Astrological layers! There are 12 signs of the Zodiac. In addition to the characteristics that are assigned to a Sun sign, each will also have traits of one of 4 Elements – Air, Fire, Water, Earth and exhibit the behaviors of one of 3 personality types (modes) – Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable.

The attributes that are associated with these Elements and Modes add depth to the personality of our Sun sign.

Elements: (Triplicities)

Air: Analytical, social, cerebral – Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

Water: Emotion, sensitive, artistic – Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

Fire: Enthusiasm, energy, volatile – Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

Earth: Dependable, practical, hardworking – Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

Modes or Type: (Quadruplicities)

Cardinal: Initiators, leaders – Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn (Notice that they follow the Equinox/Solstice seasonal changes in North America)

Fixed: Focused, stubborn – Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius

Mutable: Flexible, changeable – Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces

Sun Signs:

AriesMarch 21- April 19 * Cardinal / Fire

TaurusApril 20-May 20 * Fixed / Earth

Gemini:   May 20-June 20 * Mutable/Air

CancerJune 21-July 22 * Cardinal / Water

LeoJuly 23- Aug 22 * Fixed / Fire

VirgoAug 23-Sept 22 * Mutable / Earth

LibraSept 23-Oct 22 * Cardinal / Air

ScorpioOct 23-Nov 21 * Fixed/ Water

SagittariusNov 22-Dec 21 * Mutable / Fire

CapricornDec 22-Jan 19 * Cardinal / Earth

Aquarius: Jan 20-Feb 18 * Fixed/ Air

Pisces: Feb 19-March 20 * Mutable / Water

Sun signs along with their Elements and Modes can contribute to how we operate, how we respond and often how we get along with one another.

Air signs are usually most compatible with Fire and Earth are most compatible with Water. But, as always – it’s all good.

Some Days Up, Some Days Down? – Blame The Moon!

Astro New Moon CrescentFrom super sensitive, delicate feelings one day to a “You want a piece a me?” attitude the next, your “mood” may be the Lunar orb’s fault.  The Moon affects our subconscious (the Sun = conscious) and as it  moves thru the 12 signs of the Zodiac, about 2 ½ days in each sign, our moods and feelings can change according to the characteristics of each sign. It can make us susceptible to the emotions, undercurrents, vibrations that surround us and influence how we act / react during a day. (Whenever I write something like this, I hope no one gets visions of those Full Moon = Werewolf movies) Astro Glyphs 2

Not everyone is affected by Moon transits all the time, or in the same way. Sometimes the mood won’t be picked up on. There are always additional planet activity in a chart creating other energy. Often, there is so much going on in a life, time isn’t taken to notice that because the Moon is in Gemini people get way too chatty, or if the Moon is in Capricorn, too many want to take charge of a work project and boss everyone around. If you don’t “feel” the difference, don’t worry about it – your subconscious is still doing something 🙂

The Moon in Zodiac Signs:

Aries: Volatile, can be quick to confront, high energy

Taurus: Solid, sensual, stubborn, money focus

Gemini: Master of multi-task, communication, clever

Cancer: Nurturer, emotional, family concerns (ruled by the Moon)

Leo: Fun with melodrama, creative, generous

Virgo: Health, work, details, responsible

Libra: Social, good time to re decorate (home or self), relationships rule

Scorpio: Passion, sensitivity, intense and focused

Sagittarius:  Philosophical, looking for adventure, laughter, bigger is better

Capricorn: Authority, organization, in charge

Aquarius: Group focused, innovative, rebellious, independent

Pisces: Intuitive, impressionable, imaginative, unclear

12 Zodiac Signs – Which One Is Mine????

There may be some people that get confused about their Astrology birth sign because they were born on the Cusp of 2 Sun signs:

Aries: March 21-April 19

Taurus: April 20-May 21

Gemini: May 22-June 20

Cancer: June 21-July 22

Leo: July 23- Aug 22

Virgo: Aug 23-Sept 22

Libra: Sept 23-Oct 22

Scorpio: Oct 23-Nov 21

Sagittarius: Nov 22-Dec 21

Capricorn: Dec 22-Jan 19

Aquarius: Jan 20-Feb 18

Pisces: Feb 19-March 20

I call them “Cusp Babies”. They get annoyed- not when I call them that, but because the start / end dates of a Sun Sign’s duration “calendar travels” from year to year.

Depending on location, year and month you were born in the world, the Astrological sign changeover can be anywhere from the 18th to the 23rd of the month.

Example: the Sun entered Aquarius on Friday January 20, 2012 (11:10 am EST/ 8:10 am PST). If a child was born earlier than 8:10 in the morning in Los Angeles on 1/20/12 – the Sun was in the previous sign of Capricorn. If born later – the baby has an Aquarius Sun (of course the clock varies by Time Zone, but you get the drift).

Regardless of when you were born, you have a Sun Sign. If you were born on a cusp day, you just need to have complete birth info – specific time/place/date- to really nail down your sign.

You’ve determined your Sun Sign, but what about the other sign that is so close its only separated by minutes/hours?  Depending on where planets show up and/or congregate in a chart, the individual will often have characteristics of sign # 2 as well. As in life, in astrology no one is one dimensional. (You can read information about both signs just to give yourself a rounded feeling)

The Sun Sign is the light reflecting the self.  How we behave when our backs are to the wall, pressed, fight or flight situations, etc. As complex people, we radiate several lights – perhaps just not all at the same time.

BTW: The Earth’s rotation actually determines the start dates of a sign – not the Sun. The dates can vary by as much as 2 days depending on when a leap year occurs.

As the world turns, the Sun appears to flow from one Zodiac sign to another. Since the Earth wobbles, it takes slightly more than 365 days — actually 365 + 1/4 days. Because of this, our calendars must be adjusted to compensate for this difference.

The Scorpio Sun arrives on Saturday October 23rd (8:35AM EDT/ 5:35AM PDT
