New Moon * New Year

Astro New Moon CrescentAn ambitious, financial security focused Capricorn New Moon helps us greet the New Year on Wednesday, January 1, 2014.  After a few choruses of Auld Lang Syne and a couple of glasses of bubbly, whether it be champagne or ginger ale, New Moon energy can give us the push to start the year with plans to accomplish goals, advance a career, create space to achieve.

Fill in that empty 2014 calendar, see that blank slate as an opportunity to contribute and cram it full of the good things in life.

New Moon Wednesday, January 1, 2014 – 6:14AM EST – 3:14AM PST

Joy, Good Luck, Good Health – Happy New Year!

Great Weekend – Moon in Passionate Scorpio, Then Peppy Sagittarius

Astro moon-waning-crescent-lBeginning Friday December 27, 2013, until Sunday, the Moon is solidly in the middle of Scorpio drama, intensity and determination. Anything you want to find out? Search for anyone, uncover a mystery? The Scorpio Moon provides the determination and energy to discover and handle truths. Secrets are not safe from this Pluto ruled Water sign. No hiding allowed. It translates to an unwillingness to coast, “go along to get along”, etc. Some feathers may be ruffled, but the impulse to drill deep and get to the bottom of whatever will be hard to deny.

Early Sunday morning, it’s all about Sagittarius. When the Moon bounces into this Jupiter ruled Fire sign, we tend to be upbeat, friendly risk takers. It’s all good, everything is possible, a “yes” attitude. Fun Sagittarian energy – great time to do something, be something, learn something – and enjoy it!

Have a marvelous weekend!

Peace & Joy

Season’s Greetings,

Happy Holidays,

Merry Christmas!

Sun Into Pragmatic Capricorn = Winter Solstice

astrology_chartwheel 2The Sun moving into Capricorn, the 10th sign of the Zodiac, also means the start of the Winter Solstice, the official beginning of Winter in the Northern Hemisphere on December 21, 2013. Capricorn, an Earth sign ruled by the planet Saturn, is serious, efficient, grounded, practical and ambitious. Yes, very different from all the upbeat holiday revelry, however, there’s no need to have a letdown. Capricorn can keep us busy, accomplished and sensible. Re-goal yourself (I made this word up), tune up career moves, network in house, organize whatever needs to be shaped up. Make something happen. Just don’t get so bogged down in responsibilities that you become rigid and cautious.

Regardless of your birthday, we all feel the Capricorn influence as we reach for an upgrade in status, get a thrill directing traffic and tell people what to do. Being a “boss” is not a burden. Being in charge is welcome. Fun for the boss, but maybe not so much for the employee? Remember to be careful with how you treat others, you can be authoritative with honey, rather than vinegar.

There are 3 planets, plus the Sun, in Capricorn right now meaning that wherever this sign appears in the birth chart, its traits are intensified. (And of course, a Capricorn Sun or Rising sign is especially energized.)

Planets in Capricorn:

*Pluto – deep feelings, changes in career direction?, revelations, rebirth (since 2008 until 2023)

*Venus – Love, beauty, relationships (goes Retrograde 12/21 until 2/1/14), remains until 3/6/14 – pay attention to romantic expectations, feelings of restrictions.

*Mercury – Communication can become serious and narrow-thinking. Maintain sense of humor. Reign in sharp, hurtful speech.   (from 12/24/13  to 1/12/14)

As the year’s end approaches, it’s the perfect time to look at what we’ve accomplished in 2013 and make plans for 2014. I love that whole “what’s next?” questioning process.

Sun into Capricorn = Dec. 21, 2013…12:11PM EST / 9:11AM PST

*Gemstone: Obsidian, Onyx *Power color: Black, grays * Body Part: Bones

FYI:  “The Winter Solstice occurs exactly when the Earth’s axial tilt is farthest away from the sun at its maximum of 23° 26′. Though the winter solstice lasts only a moment in time, the term is also a turning point to midwinter or the first day of winter…The seasonal significance of the winter solstice is in the reversal of the gradual lengthening of nights and shortening of days.” (per WikiPedia)

Theatrical Leo & Practical Virgo – Be Flexible!

This weekend, the Moon will shift us thru a variety of moods. It’s all good, we can handle it.

Astro moon-waning-crescent-lThe Lunar orb is in generous, dramatic (great for actors), attention seeking, creative Leo on Friday and Saturday, December 20 and 21. Ruled by the Sun, this fun loving Fire sign may add some drama, but we will be active, upbeat, and magnanimous, which can make for a really good time.

On Sunday, the energy changes when the Moon moves into Earthy, service oriented Virgo. Its traits of practicality and responsibility will give focus to doing what is needed. Take care of loose ends, pay attention to the details, handle business – accomplishment is exciting and makes you feel proud:)

Whatever you do, make it a weekend to remember!

Full Moon in Gemini – Communication Works!

Astro Moon FullEarly Tuesday December 17, 2013 a Full Moon will occur. The Luminaries are opposite each other: the Sagittarius Sun in the last stages and the Moon in its partner sign of Gemini. While the Moon is in the versatile 3rd sign of the Zodiac, communication, flexibility and curiosity traits are intensified. Clear, meaningful verbal / written exchanges with the Mercury ruled Air sign are always with us, but with “Full” energy, even more so.

What do you need or want to say? What do you need or want to write?  With Gemini, words can always be witty and clever, but now they can also be purposeful, powerful and precise. I love this quote from Deepak Chopra: “Language creates reality. Words are magical power. Speak always to create joy” Let us all do that!

FYI – Full Moon: 12/17/13 – 4:28AM EST / 1:28AM PST

(Later in the day, the Moon shifts to Moon ruled, Water sign Cancer. However, Full Moon influences, completing tasks, projects, moving on, will remain for the next 10 days or so. Clear out old stuff before the Capricorn New Moon on January 1.)

Friday the 13th, Astrologically Speaking…

A stubborn, determined, sensual, Venus ruled Taurus Moon can make December 13, 2013 an exciting, rather than frightening Friday. It’s all about life’s beauty and pleasures, but it also brings forth the obstinate bull in us. Is there such a thing as inflexible love? Nobody wants to lose, give up/ give in, change direction. “Stickin-to-your-guns” works, until it doesn’t. Pay attention and accept when it stops working. Regardless, luxuriate in good food, good people and good times. Astro New Moon Crescent

Sunday will have us talking more, writing more, etc due to the Moon’s transit of the Gemini,  guided by communications planet Mercury. While Gemini’s duality (the Twins?) can make us clever and versatile, we can also be a little flighty and distracted – so think before you speak or push “send” on that email or text. Regardless of whatever you get into – have a terrific weekend!

FYI:  “Triskaidekaphobia” – fear of Friday the 13th.

Weekend Moon: Radical Aquarius, Then Dreamy Pisces

Astro New Moon CrescentThe unpredictable, independent, Uranus ruled Aquarius Moon on Friday December 6, 2013 might give us some surprises. If that makes you nervous, imagine all the fun you can have this weekend under the influence of this unconventional Air sign. Just think thru any extreme plans that might cross your mind. There may be consequences, fallout.

Early Sunday, we will experience a more warm and fuzzy feeling with the arrival of the Neptune ruled Pisces Moon. This water sign is dreamy, sensitive and imaginative, so be sure to stay grounded and hold on to reality. However, this is a great time to be creative. (Try to remember and write down any ideas that float to the surface while dreaming.)

Optimistic Sagittarius New Moon 12/2/13

A New Moon in Sagittarius, Monday December 2, 2013, gets the month off to an upbeat start. Abundance, fun, bigger is best, far reaching ideas, etc. are all part of this Jupiter ruled Zodiac Fire sign.

Astro New Moon CrescentLaunch, create, kick-off, manifest – the New Moon is a great time to start something, especially with the positive, good luck Sag vibe. Of course success isn’t guaranteed, you still gotta do the work, but the universe and lunar energy will support you – which is nothing to sneeze at. Take advantage, work it – but, don’t get too cocky, pay attention to the details.

FYI = The Moon is “New” when it’s in the same sign as the Sun (Sun entered Sagittarius on 11/21/13). Even though the Moon will go on to another sign (Capricorn on Wednesday), the supportive “New” energy lasts for approximately 10 days.
